The last summer I had my first lions exchange in Germany.
I want to be totally honest: I was a bit upset about the destination because It wasn't one of my initial choices, I thought it would have been too near my country and I wanted to have a bravier experience, as going in some farther European country like Norway or Finland.
But at the same time I felt so excited because all my siblings told me that I was about to face the best experience of my life. I have two sisters and a brother and all of them had some lions exchanges, and they enjoyed every trip they did.
I stayed in Germany for 3 weeks, and I swear: the saying "time flies when you're having fun" is totally true.
The first week I was hosted by an old woman and I had two house mates. We had a lot of fun during that week because we had lots of meetings were we had the possibility to know each other. My host Mather was so kind to me and to the other girls, and our house was huge! The only problem I faced, there and during the campus as well, IT was the food: it doesn't mean that I didn't like everything because it was bad, instead I didn't like it because I had different food habits and the food in my country is totally different, however this problem helped me to learn how to live in another country in all its differences.
I had two great organizers that permit us to have amazing experiences as trip in different cities, special activities as golf and hicking, and some interesting meetings. They were so friendly and kind with teens like us, they totally understood our needs.
I really liked the time spent at the hostel.
The hostel was a simple building with a big garden and some meeting rooms were we stayed all together.
I loved all the barbecues, the food was so tasty and there were good vibes all around, we danced, we sang and we told each other stories.
The trip I enjoyed the most was the the one in Berlin, it's a gorgeous city, we visited so many places as the parlament and the memorial, we ate everyday in classy restaurants and we also went shopping! But I really enjoyed it especially because there was a great friendship started... In fact, through this experience I had the opportunity to meet youth from all over the world, coming along different cultures and behaviors. Surprisedly I discovered how much we are similar for dreams and needs and how much our differences were the strength of our union.
I can swear this trip was worth it, and I hope that some other teens could have an experience like mine!
