In aprile 2018 ho ricevuto la conferma di accettazione al programma di scambio famiglia più campo in Serbia.
La Serbia mi è stata presentata come un paese bellissimo e dalle mille sfaccettature architettoniche e culturali dal Lions responsabile per questa destinazione, Margherita Muzzi e posso dire che si è rilevata tale. Il mio scambio si è svolto tra il 30/06 e il 16/07 suddiviso in un primo periodo di famiglia a Belgrado, un periodo di campo intermedio a Novi Sad ed un ultimo di famiglia nella stessa città.
Il tempo trascorso nella prima famiglia è stato assolutamente piacevole, è stato facile comunicare con tutti i membri della famiglia che sapevano parlare un buon inglese e che si sono dimostrati nel corso della mia permanenza sempre gentili e disponibili. Sia il cibo che l’alloggio mi hanno soddisfatto ma più di tutto mi è piaciuto trascorrere del tempo con il mio fratello ospitante coetaneo, Andrjia che nel corso dei sei giorni mi ha fatto vedere quasi tutto tra punti turistici e non a Belgrado, come il tempio di San Sava, la fortezza o il parco di Kalemegdan, fornendomi anche informazioni interessanti sui siti visitati; ho avuto inoltre la possibilità di incontrare un ragazzo tedesco e due ragazze, una italiana e una turca, che avrei rivisto poi a Novi Sad nel campo insieme agli altri dato che i nostri rispettivi fratelli e sorelle ospitanti si erano organizzati per trascorrere delle serate ma anche alcune attività insieme.
Il giorno 05/07/18 sono stato accompagnato al campo Danubio, situato a circa dieci minuti in macchina dal centro di Novi Sad. Qui ho incontrato gli amici con cui avevo già passato del tempo a Belgrado ed ho fatto conoscenza con altri ragazzi e ragazze, di età tra i 16 e i 20 anni, provenienti da Turchia, Germania, Polonia, Danimarca e Paesi Bassi. Il primo giorno abbiamo iniziato a fare conoscenza e lo staff del camp si è presentato.
Le prime due giornate di campo effettivo abbiamo fatto un giro turistico di Novi Sad (giorno 2) e di Belgrado (giorno 3), il quarto giorno siamo stati nel parco di Fruška gora che abbiamo visitato in jeep e durante la gita siamo stati sorpresi dalla pioggia per cui sfortunatamente abbiamo dovuto abbandonare anzi tempo il percorso programmato; il quinto giorno, causa pioggia, le attività previste non si sono potute svolgere ma abbiamo comunque sfruttato il tempo nel miglior modo possibile; guardando un film, andando a fare shopping e giocando a bowling tutti insieme, rafforzando così il nostro legame di amicizia. Il sesto giorno abbiamo visitato la fortezza di Petrovaradin a Novi Sad e seguito una visita guidata molto interessante nelle Catacombe, in seguito, nel pomeriggio, ci siamo divertiti in un adrenaline park non molto lontano dal campo. L’ultimo giorno, prima di raggiungere le nostre seconde famiglie, abbiamo fatto un giro sul Danubio su una piccola barca, che è stata affittata per una giornata e riservata solo a noi, dove abbiamo pranzato facendo un barbecue. Il camp staff era composto da ragazzi simpatici, non molto lontani dalla nostra età.
Il giorno 11/07 ho conosciuto quindi la seconda famiglia che si è mostrata composta da persone deliziose, in particolare padre e madre hanno fatto di tutto per farmi sentire come fossi a casa, mostrandosi disponibili anche ad accompagnarmi più volte nella città, distante più o meno dieci minuti in macchina, in modo tale che potessi incontrare i ragazzi del campo e trascorrere altro tempo con loro.
Nonostante l’assenza del mio fratello ospitante coetaneo il quale stava trascorrendo il suo periodo di scambio in Turchia, mi sono trovato molto bene con tutti gli altri membri della famiglia. Durante questi ultimi sei giorni ho avuto la possibilità di assaggiare cibi tradizionali,di vedere Novi Sad dal punto di vista del Danubio su una barchetta a motore di proprietà della famiglia, di andare per un pomeriggio a pesca con Luka, il mio secondo fratello ospitante e di visitatare l’EXIT festival per due sere, incontrandomi nuovamente con gli amici del campo.
In conclusione posso ritenermi più che soddisfatto dell’esperienza sia per quanto riguarda il luogo sia per il trattamento ricevuto, in Serbia ho vissuto momenti indimenticabili, essa è un paese che consiglio a chiunque voglia cimentarsi in un programma di scambio giovanile Lions.

On April 2018 I received the confirmation that I would have been able to take part at the youth exchange program in Serbia. Margherita Muzzi, the coordinator for this destination, presented Serbia as a beautiful country, multifaceted for its architectural and cultural beauties. My exchange program consisted in a first family period in Belgrade, a one week long camp in Novi Sad and a second family period still in Novi Sad, from the 30thof June to the 16thof July.
I am really satisfied about the first period, it was easy to communicate with each member of the family. They spoke good English and proved themselves always kind and helpful during my stay. The thing I liked the most was to spend time with my own age host brother, Andrjia who showed me almost everything there is to see in Belgrade, such as saint Sava temple, the fortress and Kalemegdan park, giving me lots of interesting historical details about the places we went to. During this first period I also met some of the campers that had in Belgrade the first family as well: a German boy, a Turkish and an Italian girl. Our host brothers and sisters organised themselves to let us know each other before the camp.
The 5thof July I was accompanied to the camp Danube, located at about ten minutes by car from Novi Sad centre, here I met the campers I already knew from Belgrade and the others I had not met yet, from Turkey, Germany, Poland, Denmark, Netherlands. Age range was from 16 to 20 years. We spent the first day playing cards and other games and the camp staff introduced itself to us.
First two days of actual camp we went sightseeing in Novi Sad (2ndday) and in Belgrade (3rdday); on the 4thday we have been in the Fruška gora national park on a jeep trip and during it we were surprised by the rain so we had to leave prematurely the designed route; the 5thday because of the rain we didn’t respect the planned schedule and we used our time in the best possible way: watching a movie, going shopping and bowling, all together strengthening our connection. The 6thday we visited Petrovaradin fortress in Novi Sad, with a tour of the catacombs, afterwards, we had fun in an adrenalin park that was not so far from the camp location. The last day, before we met our second families, we had a boat trip on the Danube with barbecue.
On 11thof July I met my second family, formed by beautiful people. My host mother and father especially, made me feel like I was home, and were willing to drive me to city, ten minutes by car from house, to meet my friends from the camp and spend some more time with them.
Despite one of my host brothers was in Turkey on his lions youth exchange program, I had really good time with all the other members of the family. During these 6 days I had a chance to taste traditional Serbian dishes, to see Novi Sad from the river on my family’s little boat, to go fishing whit my host brother Luka and I also went to EXIT festival for two days, meeting once again the other campers.
In conclusion I can say I had marvellous time in Serbia and I will remember it for a long time. I recommend this country to anyone who would like to take part in a Lions exchange program and I thank all the people that made it possible to me.
