Quest’estate sono partito per la mia prima esperienza di scambi Lions. Non sapevo cosa aspettarmi anche perché non sapevo molto sul paese in cui dovevo andare ovvero la Finlandia. Proprio per questo motivo, prima della partenza mi sentivo molto teso ma allo stesso tempo curioso di partire per questa nuova avventura. Sono decollato dall’aeroporto di Milano Malpensa il 14 luglio per poi atterrare a Helsinki il pomeriggio stesso. Le prime due settimane le ho trascorse in famiglia in una piccola città chiamata Lohja ( a un’ora di macchina da Helsinki). La mia host-Family era composta da una coppia sposata che aveva tre figli: una ragazza di 15 anni, un bambino di 3 e un bambino di 1 anno. Sebbene non abbia legato molto con la ragazza, anche perché non era molto socievole, ho trascorso tante belle giornate con la host-mum e con i bambini, mi piaceva giocare con loro nelle mattine in cui stavo in casa o andavamo a fare il bagno al lago.
La famiglia è stata molto educata e mi ha fatto sentire come a casa.

La prima settimana è stata ricca di attività, quasi tutti i giorni andavamo da qualche parte in giro. In questa settimana siamo andati nell’hotel nel quale la host-mum lavorava e dove ho  fatto la mia prima  sauna del viaggio. Il giorno dopo siamo andati nel  parco divertimenti di Helsinki dove mi sono divertito tantissimo. Siamo anche andati nel loro summer cottage, che ho poi scoperto che in Finlandia lo hanno tutti. La seconda settimana è stata un po’più rilassante perché non utilizzavamo tanto la macchina per viaggiare bensì stavamo nei paraggi e molte volte andavo da solo a fare jogging nelle meravigliose foreste finlandesi. Ho inoltre visitato la bellissima capitale: Helsinki. Una delle capitali più tranquille che avessi mai visto.
A condividere questa esperienza con me in famiglia c’era Jason (Lam Ho Fai) da Hong Kong di 21 anni: nonostante non abbiamo parlato molto la prima settimana, le ultime due abbiamo legato molto e siamo tutt’ora in contatto. Il 27 io e Jason siamo andati in macchina al Camp nella città di Uusima.
Eravamo nel Camp di Uusima a circa un’ora da Helsinki e due ore dalla casa della mia host-family. Nel paese c’era solamente un supermercato, praticamente il camp formava  la maggior parte di esso. Ogni giorno avevamo una lista di bellissime attività, dal bagno nel lago, la camminata, le visite delle città, le saune, gli sport pomeridiani…
Abbiamo legato tantissimo tra di noi sebbene fossimo 30 ragazzi di 19 nazionalità diverse. Il cibo mi è piaciuto anche perché mangiavamo cinque volte al giorno: colazione alle 8, pranzo alle 12, coffee break alle 15, cena alle 17 e snack alle 21. Non mi potevo permettere di dire che avevo fame.
Nel complesso è stata un esperienza bellissima, mi mancano già tutti i campers e non riesco a descrivere a parole quello che ho provato. Non vedo l’ora di partire di nuovo con uno scambio Lions. Lo raccomando a tutte le persone che vogliono arricchirsi di culture diverse e che vogliono aprire gli occhi verso altre parti del mondo.
Ringrazio infinitamente tutti i Lions che hanno lavorato sodo per fare si che io e molti altri ragazzi vivessimo delle esperienze indimenticabili in tutto il mondo.

This summer I left for my first Lions exchange experience. I didn't know what to expect because I didn't know much about the country I had to go to or Finland. Precisely for this reason, before leaving I felt very tense but at the same time curious to leave for this new adventure. I took off from Milan Malpensa airport on July 14th and then landed in Helsinki that afternoon. I spent the first two weeks with my family in a small town called Lohja (an hour's drive from Helsinki). My host family was a married couple who had three children: a 15-year-old girl, a 3-year-old child and a 1-year-old child. Although he didn't have much connection with the girl, also because he wasn't very sociable, I spent many beautiful days with the host-mum and with the children, I liked to play with them in the mornings when I was at home or we went to bathe at lake.
The family was very polite and made me feel at home. The first week was full of activities, almost every day we went around somewhere. This week we went to the hotel where the host-mum worked and where I did my first sauna of the trip. The next day we went to the Helsinki amusement park where I had a great time. We also went to their summer cottage, which I later discovered that they all have it in Finland. The second week was a little more relaxing because we didn't use the car to travel so much but we were around and many times I used to go jogging alone in the wonderful Finnish forests. I also visited the beautiful capital: Helsinki. One of the quietest capitals I've ever seen.
Sharing this experience with me in the family was Jason (Lam Ho Fai) from Hong Kong, 21 years old: although we didn't talk much the first week, the last two we tied a lot and we're still in touch. On the 27th I and Jason drove to the Camp in the city of Uusima.
We were in the Camp of Uusima about an hour from Helsinki and two hours from the house of my host family. In the country there was only one supermarket, practically the camp formed most of it. Every day we had a list of beautiful activities, from swimming in the lake, walking, city visits, saunas, afternoon sports ...
We tied a lot between us although we were 30 boys of 19 different nationalities. I also liked the food because we ate five times a day: breakfast at 8, lunch at 12, coffee break at 3 pm, dinner at 5 pm and snacks at 9 pm. I couldn't afford to say I was hungry.
Overall it was a beautiful experience, I already miss all the campers and I can't describe in words what I felt. I look forward to starting again with a Lions exchange. I recommend it to all people who want to enrich from different cultures and who want to open their eyes to other parts of the world.
